4 The LORD said to him, “Go through the midst of the city, even through the midst of Jerusalem, and put a mark on the foreheads of the men who sigh and groan over all the abominations which are being committed in its midst.”5 But to the others He said in my hearing, “Go through the city after him and strike; do not let your eye have pity and do not spare.6 Utterly slay old men, young men, maidens, little children, and women, but do not touch any man on whom is the mark; and you shall start from My sanctuary.” So they started with the elders who were before the temple.

I came across this verse today and realized how important it is that the Church pay attention today.  We in America have committed abominations.  It could be the enormous debt we have burdened our children and grandchildren with or the millions of children we have murdered in the name of “choice.”  Regardless of the underlying abomination, I am worried that so many of us have failed to “sigh and groan” over them.

This prophetic passage states plainly that if we aren’t found groaning and sighing then we are to be slayed.  It is a sobering passage, especially since God instructs them to start in the Temple.  In other words, God holds the Church accountable FIRST, and spares no one.
